Va. Shelves Bills To Ban Texting While Driving

Virginia lawmakers have shelved legislation that would prohibit drivers from sending text messages and operating wireless e-mail devices from behind the wheel. The Washington Post reports that a pair of bills addressing those issues will not make it out of committee this year in the state House. Delegate James Scott, a sponsor of one of the bills, said it is understandable that his colleagues want to continue studying the issue. Similar bills to ban cellular telephone use by adult drivers have failed in Virginia.
