Colorado Bill would squelch robocalls

Forget about getting any calls from Bill Clinton, Charlton Heston, Howard Dean or Ann Coulter this fall if a bill introduced in the Colorado Senate wins passage.

The measure, sponsored by Sen. Paula Sandoval, D-Denver, and Rep. Larry Liston, R-Colorado Springs, would ban the use of robocalls, those automated prerecorded calls from political celebrities that tend to pile up around major elections.

Attorney General John Suthers announced Wednesday that he supports the bill, which is modeled on a similar measure in Minnesota that withstood a federal court challenge.
